How to Automatically Move CC’d Emails Into Their Own Folder in Your Emails
Managing a busy inbox is difficult enough, but when you’re copied into emails that aren’t directly for you, things can quickly get messy. CC’d messages often clutter your inbox, burying the emails that actually require your attention. In this guide (and video below), I show you how to automatically move all CC’d emails into their own folder using Outlook rules. This simple automation keeps your primary inbox clean and helps you focus on the emails that matter most.
The Simple Types for Mailbox Rule to Move CC'd Emails Into Their Own Folder
Here is the simple way in which you can organise your mailbox by moving CC’d and BCC’d emails automatically into a separate folder to been you main inbox clean and only containing emails directly addressed to you. To set this up, simply:
- Click file and then manage rules and alerts
- Click new rule
- Then ensure ‘move messages from someone to a folder’ is highlighted and click next
- Within conditions, tick, ‘ Where my name is in the Cc Box’ and ‘Where my name is not in the To box’. Then click next.
- For action(s) section, ensure ‘move it to the specified folder’ is selected.
- click on ‘specified’ folder highlighted in blue and under the inbox section create a folder which you want to move to CC’d emails to.
- Within the exceptions section, leave this blank for now and click next.
- Finally, you will be prompted to name the rule. Create a name and ensure ‘Turn on this rule’ and ‘Run this rule now on messages already in “inbox”‘ is checked.
- Hit finish and the rule will now be applied.
